via ferrata Moléson
K4 for the Via ferrata du Pilier. The sunnier of the two Gruyère via ferrata to the Moléson leads over the striking northeast pillar. A scenic route with some vertical and two briefly overhanging spots; Variant (not mandatory, but very exposed): K5. Get in the morning, because of the sun. K5 (two short spots), but usually K4 for the Via ferrata de la Face, exit variant K5+. On the pre-summit (1936 m) both routes unite. The Vie ferrate du Moléson are subject to a fee: 4 francs for adults, 2 francs for children; the money is used for the maintenance of the facilities. They are open from mid-June to mid-October – when the Moléson cable car is in operation. Via ferrata equipment can be rented at the Plan-Francey middle station.
